The Australian Financial Review recently published their annual listing for the Top 100 Accounting Firms in Australia, naming Perks at #32. As one of the few mid-tier, privately-owned and locally-operated Accounting Firms to have made the top third of the listing, Perks is proud to be ranked so highly.

Business advisers first, accountants second

Managing Director, Mark Roderick credits the strength and resilience of the Perks team for this accomplishment.

“This year has really shone a light on the fierce agility and dedication of our Team. We have adapted to sudden periods of lockdown, sustained remote working and a myriad of new tax policies. A lot of these circumstances have come about literally overnight, in some cases.”

“Our team truly embodies our Perks values, going above and beyond to be there for our clients during times when they need us most. Highlighted during these periods is the fact that we aren’t just accountants, we are confidants; innovators; problem-solvers; an unbiased sounding-board; and, extensions of our client’s own teams,” shares Mark.

The Australian Financial Review also notes that the pandemic has pushed businesses to adopt professional accounting and business advisory services in order to keep them afloat, especially when restrictions hit. Among the hardest hit by fluctuating restrictions, were small to medium sized businesses who turned to mid-tier accounting firms seeking professional advice. The numbers speak for themselves.

“The surge in demand for traditional accounting services has led to mid-tier accounting firms growing by a faster rate than the big four consulting firms amid the COVID-19 recession,” Edmund Tadros, Professional Services editor writes.

“Revenue at mid-tier firms was up 9.4 per cent to $2 billion, compared to the big four consulting firms, increasing revenue by a collective 6.6 per cent to $9.1 billion,” according to the AFR.

A local accounting & wealth advisory firm with a national reach & presence

This is not the only occasion Perks has shone bright on a national stage. Earlier this year, Perks Private Wealth Director, Simon Hele was recognised as one of Australia’s Top Financial Advisers in the Barron’s listing and it was only last year that Perks was awarded Xero’s National Accounting Partner of the Year.

CEO James Black calls out the fact that despite the adversity and the tumultuous events of 2020, Perks was able to continue on its strategic pathway.

“Even prior to lockdowns, one of our main objectives for this year, was to transfer our entire team to a cloud-based operating environment,” James sites.

“We’ve achieved this without interruption to the servicing of our clients, and are now reaping the benefits of greater efficiency across our teams.”

“As Xero Platinum Partners, we’re strong advocates of cloud-based financial solutions and the clarity they can offer a business. COVID-19 has really underlined the importance of businesses having these systems in place – with timely access to accurate financial data and the decisions it empowers business owners to make, it has never been more vital for their survival.”
