Overview:

Perks is proud to announce its new partnership with The Village Co., a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting new mothers in South Australia experiencing hardship.

About The Village Co.

The Village Co. is passionate about ensuring that all new mothers, regardless of background, receive the necessary support and supplies as they embark on the life-changing journey of motherhood.

The Village Co. was founded by former midwife Stephanie Malan in 2018 and today helps over 800 women a year – up from 100 women when the charity first began.

Stephanie Malan understands the ripple effect of positive change the organisation can create for children and the wider community, by empowering new mothers and building a strong support network for them.

“A heard and supported mother raises healthier and happier children,” she says.

“This very welcome support from Perks has come at a very critical time for us, with the rising cost of living hurting many South Australian families and orders from our community groups growing exponentially in recent months.”

How did Perks make the decision to support The Village Co. cause?

Perks Social Responsibility Committee Chair and Perks Director, Kerry Bosnich says the partnership reflects Perks’ commitment to making a positive impact in the local community and helping great South Australian charities to make a difference in the lives of others.

“We were truly inspired by Steph’s work. Knowing that there is such a great need for these kinds of services and the profound effect that this organisation can have on new mothers at such a momentous time in their lives, deeply resonated with us. It takes a village to raise a child, and we want to be part of that village for new mothers in SA, who for whatever the reason they don’t have that support” she says.

Early in 2022 Perks established a Social Responsibility Committee, with a survey of Perks Team Members revealing the majority wanted to help disadvantaged children in SA.

It was particularly important that their chosen charities are local, so Team Members could not only see the difference their dollar was making, but they could actively get involved by volunteering.

Importantly, the corporate giving initiative fosters a sense of community within the firm.

How has Perks committed to support The Village Co.?

Under the partnership, Perks Team Members will assemble care bags containing products for new mums and their babies and deliver the goods to The Village Co’s. drop-off locations across SA.

Perks has also pledged an initial $20,000 donation to The Village Co. and will place a product donation box at the reception of its Flinders Street office where Team Members and clients can deposit product donations. Items for newborns such as nappies, baby wipes, newborn clothing, baby soap, blankets and wraps, as well as items for mothers such as roll-on deodorant, breast pads, sanitary pads, toothbrushes and toothpaste, are welcome for donation.
