A research report undertaken by Beyond Blue and PwC has proven that for each dollar spent on creating a mentally healthy workplace, you can expect a 230% return rate.

FACT 2

The same report uncovered the per annum financial costs to Australian businesses that don’t proactively manage mental health in the workplace amounted to $4.7 billion in absenteeism, $6.1 billion in lost productivity and $146 million in compensation claims.

A TNS survey revealed that 1 in 5 Australian workers is currently experiencing a mental health condition.

An ABS National Mental Health and Wellbeing survey showed that an estimated 45% of Australians will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, the most common being anxiety and depression.

The same survey uncovered that anxiety and depression are the most common mental health conditions experienced by people in Australia, and tend to affect people during their prime working years (16 to 64 years).

FACT 6

It also determined that less than half of the people experiencing anxiety or depression conditions seek help, even though they can just as debilitating as a physical illness.

FACT 7

Research by Instinct and Reason (PDF) found that three-quarters of Australian employees say a mentally healthy workplace is important when looking for a job.
