Update – Easing Restrictions for Gaming Rooms (SA)

5 years ago Posted on 29/6/2020

The SA Government has now released further information as to the requirements for the reopening of Gaming Rooms from 8am 29 June 2020:

  • Gaming room capacity will be based on the one person per two square metres rule. This will determine the total number of patrons that you can have in your room at any one time.
  • You must use your best endeavours to achieve social distancing of 1.5 metres. Social distancing requirements do not apply to members of the same household, family and close friends/associates.
  • Strict hygiene measures and a rigorous cleaning regime must remain in place. This includes the availability of hand sanitiser, disposable gloves and a particular focus on regular wiping down of common touch points such as EGMs, tiny tellers, ATMs, coin cups and counters.
  • Machines should be cleaned regularly as well as between patron use where possible.
  • Coin cups must be sanitised prior to use.
  • Communal coffee/tea/water stations and communal snacks remain prohibited. One touch beverage machines combined with the use of disposable cups and stirrers are permitted. Staff may serve individual snacks to patrons.
  • The need to contact trace has been confirmed. This means that you must collect the name of each patron, either their phone number or email address and time and date of attendance, unless they refuse. You must however make your best effort to achieve this requirement. This can be most easily done through the use of a shared register at the entry to the gaming room.
  • It has also been confirmed that venues must complete a new COVID Plan to add your Gaming Room as an area. This is because gaming is a new activity that could not be undertaken under step 2 or 2.5.
