Perks team up with Little Heroes Foundation to help those in need

2010 will see a close working relationship between Perks and the foundation (formerly known as the McGuinness McDermott Foundation) to help fund the Survivorship Service, which focuses on supporting and enriching the social lives of children living with cancer and their families.

Survivorship Service
PEER AND FAMILY SOCIAL PROGRAM
For children living with cancer and their families

Thanks to the generous support of Perks the MMF Survivorship Service is now able to expand and enrich our Peer and Family Social Program.

The emphasis of this program is to provide supportive social activities for children living with cancer and their families. This invaluable program helps to facilitate the building of peer support networks through informal, enjoyable activities as well as providing families with fun and exciting opportunities to enrich their quality of life.

The MMF Survivorship Service organises specific social events to cater for the needs of families living with childhood cancer.
The social needs of a family going through a childhood cancer journey can include opportunities to spend quality time together as a family away from the hospital, a safe environment that accommodates for their child’s health and physical limitations, as well as facilitating opportunities to get together in an informal environment with other families going through a similar journey.

The generous support of Perks will enable the MMF Survivorship Service to expand on our current calendar of events and target specifics families and groups of families in need.

Thanks to Perks, our upcoming events now include:

  • Dinner and Movie Nights for the Whole Family
  • Playgroup for Children Under 5
  • Dad’s Day Out
  • And many more to be announced....

If you would like to volunteer to assist at any of the above events and/or other events held by the Little Heroes Foundation to support children living with cancer and their families please phone Danielle on 81616025 or email danielle@mcfoundation.com.au
