Changes to First Home Owners Boost
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has reported that first home buyers now make up 28 per cent of all homes financed (the highest level on record). The Government has announced changes commencing this month, which will now see a significant reduction in the benefits available to first home buyers.
As of the 1st October 2009, there will be a reduction in the First Home Owners Boost, down from $21,000 to $14,000 for the purchase of a new home and down from $14,000 to $10,500 for the purchase of an existing home.
For purchases under $400,000 the South Australian Government’s First Home Bonus Grant of $4,000 is unaffected by the changes. This grant reduces down to nil on purchase prices between $400,000 and $450,000.
It’s still a great opportunity for new home owners to take advantage of the first home buyers’ grants. If you are looking for your first home and confused by the changes to the grants, contact Perks Finance on 8273 9300 or at perks_finance@perks.com.au and we will do the sums for you and arrange not just your loan but help you buy your home.
