New Tax Break on Equipment

Changes to First Home Owners Boost

From the 1st January 2010, the First Home Owners Boost will no longer be available however the $7,000 First Home Owner Grant will continue.

Also for purchases under $400,000 the South Australian Government’s First Home Bonus Grant of $4,000 is unaffected by the changes. This grant reduces to $0 on purchase prices between $400,000 and $450,000.

    • Building approvals for private sector houses rose 5% in October 2009 and has risen for 10 months.
    • The unemployment rate decreased 0.1% to 5.7%in November 2009.
    • Housing finance for owner occupation decreased by 1.4% in October 2009 compared with September 2009.

    United States

    • CPI increased 0.3% in October 2009.
    • The unemployment rate for November 2009 decreased to 10.0%.

    England

    • The volume of retail sales in the three months to October 2009 was 2.8% higher than the same period a year ago.
    • The Halifax House Price Index increased by 1.4% in November 2009.

    New Zealand

    • Residential building consents in October 2009 were 9.5% higher than in October 2008.
